Tips
Small habits that make Dexbi's answers better from day one.
Let your AI do the setup
If you use Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or Claude Code, connect it to Dexbi and let it write your documents and rules. See Let your AI set up Dexbi for you. Moving from another support bot? See Switch to Dexbi from another bot.
Documents
- One topic per document. "Refunds" and "Shipping" answer better as two documents than as one long page.
- Write the way members ask. If people say "unban", use "unban" in the document.
- Put the answer first. Details after.
- Pin the documents that must win. If you have an old and a new policy, open the current one and set Priority to Pinned in its Details panel. Or delete the old one.
- Keep internal notes out of public answers. In Details, turn off Public agent for documents meant only for tickets.
Guidance
- Write rules as plain sentences. Brief Dexbi like you'd brief a new moderator.
- One idea per rule, so you can see which one applied and turn it off on its own.
- Always keep an escalation rule for refunds and anything else that involves money, bans or account access. A person should handle those.
- Add a rule for upset members. "Hand over if the member seems angry or has asked twice without getting what they need."
- Be as specific as you want Dexbi to be. Escalation rules are followed by their own words. "If they seem frustrated" gets judgment. "After 3 failed attempts" gets followed exactly. See How escalation rules decide.
Before you go live
- Use the Test box first. Ask the ten questions you get most. Open the details under each answer to see which documents it used.
- Try the awkward ones too. A question in another language, a one-word message, a screenshot.
- Start with Balanced. In Deploy, leave How eager to help on Balanced at first. Move to Loose or Strict after a few days of real use.
- Deploy to one channel first, watch it for a day, then add more.
Busy servers
- Keep Ignore trolls on. It's on by default.
- Set a Daily reply limit in big communities, so one person can't use up your month. 20 or 50 a day is enough for real questions.
- Add your mod roles to Staff Roles in Settings > Access, so Dexbi doesn't answer them and steps back when they help someone.
- Use Stays quiet under When it can't answer in busy channels if "I don't have that" replies feel like noise.
Keep it fresh
- Fix answers at the source. When Dexbi gets something wrong, fix the document it used rather than adding a rule to correct it.
- Check your usage now and then. Settings > Usage shows how many replies you have left this month.
